I don’t understand what would justify the constraint of having to turn the domino before moving it to a valid position.
This method is so unexpected that I had to ask how the dominoes turned out during my first game.
I even doubted for a moment that a rotation was possible.

This must be changed.

Too add to this, it sometimes will auto-rotate it while in the grid for you, but only for certain spots. I didn't know you had to rotate it before attempting to place the piece. This left me thinking that somehow other vertical placements that I thought should work, were somehow invalid. I had to find this bug report to realize you could rotate it ahead of time.

Fully agree. I was confused on my 1st game.

Implementation suggestions anyone ? Mine would be :
Using keyboard (say "left" & "right" keys)
Using mousewheel
Adding ugly "rotate" CW and CCW arrows left to player's kingdom, and hover to rotate. (for tablets & other non-PC devices)

Just got what looks like a great idea to me
We are placing tiles BETWEEN 2 squares, right ? Then, why not display possible placement where they belong ?

My only concern is it makes small pictures, but I think it wouldn't be a real issue
-> Size can be increased a little (I dont think a bit of overlapp would be a problem)
-> Dominoes would grow on hover, of course. Dominoes can overlapp, as long as the action listeners don't.
-> And btw, I'd keep the placement confirmation to avoid mistakes.

I just don't know about the mobile version, but am confident it wouldn't be worse than what we currently have.

I updated the visual with a render of bigger tiles for comparison. It also suggests what I'd call an elegant way to manage overlapping.

I'll try and rotate it next time before i try to place... but it frustrates (especially when you don't know that you must first rotate) that you can't rotate while placing

I think that one single-direction button in the middle of the tite would be easier and faster to use than two rotation buttons. Currently, if you want to rotate the title more than once, you have to move the mouse back over to the rotation button (because the position of the rotation button moves). If there was a single button in the middle of the tile, the mouse would remain on the rotation button. The maximum number of clicks to achieve the appropriate position would increase to three (from two), but you would never need to move the mouse to reclick the rotation button.

Additional bug, often when I am playing on mobile the colour of all the needles becomes the same(my colour) so I have to remember which tile(s) i’d Chosen - it’s making me realised how forgetful I really am, as quite often surprised when it gets down to the tile I thought I’d chosen and it turned out I’d just wanted to and someone else got it.

Anywhoo back to the OP

I’d like to be able to rotate the tile prior to it being my turn to place it. Think it would save significant time if could have it all set up ready to put in place.

Don’t personally have a problem with the two ends for rotate in place but would be nice to be able to rotate in place as similarly thought for some time I couldn’t

je n arrivais pas à placer les derniers domino il remettait en haut j ai essayais longtemps sans réussir et le temps a écoulé je n ai pas abandonné la partie

Il semble impossible dans certains cas de faire pivoter un domino alors que sa pose respecte bien les règles de placement.
Au cours de notre première partie à deux, nous avons rencontré ce problème chacun à une reprise. Nous n'avons donc pas pu poser un domino où nous le souhaitions bien que la règle l'autorise (connexion à un paysage correspondant).

Hi just wanted to add that I have had the same problem with turning tiles (firefox). My friends had same problem yesterday when we played together. The interface does not let you twist/turn even though it is valid, it is really lacking, the only way to move/turn pieces it by dragging the piece, but I would suggest you do as in carcassone hunters and gathers and let users place tile and the turn it with an arrow or similar rotational interface

Bonjour, je n arrivais pas à placer le dernier domino, il revenait toujours vers le haut, aucun espoir de terminer la partie. C est bien dommage mais je n ai pas abandonné la partie. Ce jeu n est pas adapté à moins d avoir un grand écran informatique pour jouer. Par contre mon karma a diminué de -20. J ai vue que je n étais pas la seule a le signaler. Cordialement

Il semble impossible parfois de retourner le domino à une place licite.
De plus certains emplacements possibles ne sont pas proposés.

cela réduit à néant des stratégies élaborées.

J’ai été expulsée une fois du jeu parce que je n’arrivais pas à faire tourner mon domino comme je voulais le placer, ce qui gâche toute la stratégie et fait qu’on perd beaucoup de temps. Il me semble que ça serait un problème simple à régler, que nous puissions nous meme donner la rotation au domino directement dans notre royaume..

Bonjour, je ne sais pas si le sujet à déjà été traité. En cas d'égalité en fin de partie j'ai été quand même désigné gagnant avec des points XP à la clé, au moins 2 fois.
Cela ne me parait pas juste, mon adversaire n'ayant rien eu alors qu'il en méritait aussi ou alors rien pour les deux. Cordialement

Il m'est impossible de placer la domino selon certaines possibilités. Je dois choisir qu'entre quelques solutions proposées par le jeu je ne ieuf pas faire un tour complet avec le domino, je suis obligée de le poser selon les deux seules options proposées. Le plaisir du jeu est diminué, c'est frustrant. Cela m'arrive quand je joue sur mon téléphone Androïd.

A great example of how dominoes should be allowed to rotate is Cartographers (on HappyMeeple)
Oh, and btw, clicking left should rotate left, not right. We may get used to such UI design mistakes, but fixing them would still make much easier and enjoyable.
