This is another good idea that may be implemented at a future date. Until then, scrolling still works great and the game is super playable, even on the small screen of a mobile device.

I am playing on a laptop and I would also like zoom buttons.
I have two problems with the zoom-via-scrolling:
1) It is way to touchy for me - it is hard to zoom "just right" - I'd rather have +/- buttons
2) I am so used to using the scrolling to scroll up/down in the window so I am constantly zooming when I meant to be scrolling down to see how many tiles are left in the game. I now have to be careful where the cursor is.

Hello, I'm playing on a phone too. And the way it is currently isn't the best in my opinion.

I can't move the monster in the display easily, sometimes, when I want to see the upper side via scrolling down, I refresh the game by accident.
So I have to use the arrows to move it easily. But, if I can put my tile in a spot where the arrow is, it put the tile instead of clicking the arrow (probably cause I'm less precise).

It's something that I also encounter with the game Bandido, but there, I can zoom out, moreover, I can have a better view of the setting.

This is the reason I am here to suggest to add a zoom in, zoom out buttons, I think it will be great.
