I wanted to shift a block, but after deselecting the block I couldn't click on anything anymore.

I selected a block, clicked the button "shift block", then deselected the block. The reason I deselected the block was that I misstapped on my phone, but I was able to reproduce it on my pc as well.
At this point I couldn't select a block anymore and the undo button would not react to anything.
